-HOW DO SPACE STATIONS WORK?

You can think of space stations as workplaces/homes in the sky.🚀🏠. Astronauts stay in space stations to sleep, eat and even work out but most importantly they do science experiments and research space. Since they're far from Earth, everything is different. Water floats mid-air as bubbles, food is eaten straight from the package and while sleeping, they're tied to their beds to prevent them from floating off and injuring themselves.

Basically, a space station is not a space vacation. It's more comparable to a space lab, but let's be real. The scenery is better than any 5 star hotel on Earth. 🌍

THE GOAL OF THE ISS

Think about the ISS as a massive lego set🧩🚀. It's built one piece at a time and constructed in space. Here's what's inside:

Modules: Modules are basically like rooms of the ISS. Astronauts do their work, eat lunch and even sleep in the modules.

Solar Panels: Enormous space wings. They convert the photons in the sunlight to electricity because, well there are no outlets.

Laboratories: The playground of scientists. Most of the time, they do experiments here. Sometimes those experiments end up as 'playing ping pong with a big drop of water.'

Control Station: It's comparable to a cockpit of a plane. Astronauts use it to communicate with Earth.

Airlocks: The doors to space for astronauts. They go for a walk through here to exit.

When looked at from the outside, the ISS looks like a massive dragon made of metal but when you look inside, it's like an apartment full of pipes, screens, cables and flying astronauts.🛰️
